Orient Lounge

THE STORY

In the vibrant and diverse neighbourhood of Leyton, nestled within the bustling streets of East London, a captivating project began to take shape. It was a venture fuelled by imagination and driven by innovation, as we embarked on the ambitious task of transforming an existing space into the enchanting Orient Lounge. Our goal was clear—to breathe new life into this space, infusing it with the timeless charm of oriental aesthetics while embracing the sleek sophistication of modern design principles. It was a challenge that we eagerly accepted, fuelled by our passion for creating spaces that inspire, uplift, and captivate the senses. Our vision for the Orient Lounge was ambitious yet straightforward: to create a haven where guests could escape the ordinary and embark on a sensory journey through the vibrant colours, rich textures, and natural tones that define oriental design. It was about more than just aesthetics; it was about creating an immersive experience, a sanctuary where every detail, from the carefully curated decor to the ambient lighting, would transport visitors to a world of beauty and tranquillity. As we embarked on this transformative journey, we drew inspiration from the rich cultural tapestry of the Orient—the intricate patterns, vibrant hues, and timeless elegance that define this storied region. But we didn’t stop there. We also embraced the principles of modern design, incorporating sleek lines, innovative materials, and cutting-edge technology to ensure that the Orient Lounge would be as functional as it was beautiful. It was a delicate balancing act, blending tradition with innovation, but one that we approached with passion and determination. And as the project unfolded, we watched with excitement as the space began to take shape, each element coming together to create something truly extraordinary. “We couldn’t be happier with the outcome. The combination of colours, textures, and materials perfectly captures the spirit of the Orient. It’s a space that not only looks beautiful but also feels welcoming and comfortable.”

PROJECT DETAILS

The solution / What did we do? What did we use? How did we do it?

We embraced the challenge with a concept that harmonized nature-inspired elements with contemporary design. The overarching theme was to create a space that felt like an oasis — a retreat from the bustling urban landscape. Biophilic design principles guided the layout, ensuring an abundance of greenery, while the colour palette of greens and oranges played a pivotal role in capturing the essence of the Orient.

To bring the concept to life, we meticulously selected materials that resonated with both the natural and cultural elements of the Orient. White Calacatta marble adorned the tables, adding an air of luxury and sophistication, while patchwork stone tiles graced portions of the floor, injecting a playful and artistic element.

The use of indirect lighting, strategically placed throughout the lounge, created a warm and inviting ambiance. From wall sconces to cove lighting, the design team explored various styles to ensure a harmonious glow that complemented the overall atmosphere.

The incorporation of orange hues represented energy, warmth, and creativity, while the greens symbolized tranquillity and a connection to nature. Bar stools, high tables, and trees emerging from tables added a touch of whimsy to the bar area, creating an inviting and unique focal point.

The key elements included:

Concept Harmonization: The project embraced a concept that seamlessly blended nature-inspired elements with contemporary design, aiming to create a space reminiscent of an oasis—a retreat from the bustling urban landscape. This overarching theme guided the entire design process.

Biophilic Design Principles: Biophilic design principles played a pivotal role in guiding the layout of the space, ensuring an abundance of greenery throughout. This emphasis on nature helped create an environment that felt organic and inviting, fostering a sense of tranquillity and connection to the natural world.

What did we do?

Colour Palette: The carefully curated colour palette of greens and oranges played a central role in capturing the essence of the Orient. Green symbolized tranquillity and a connection to nature, while orange represented energy, warmth, and creativity. This vibrant combination infused the space with a dynamic and vibrant ambiance.

Material Selection: Meticulously selected materials resonated with both the natural and cultural elements of the Orient. White Calacatta marble adorned the tables, exuding luxury and sophistication, while patchwork stone tiles on the floor added a playful and artistic touch, enhancing the overall aesthetic.

Indirect Lighting: The strategic placement of indirect lighting throughout the lounge was crucial in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. From wall sconces to cove lighting, various lighting styles were explored to ensure a harmonious glow that complemented the overall ambiance of the space.

Whimsical Elements: Whimsical elements, such as bar stools, high tables, and trees emerging from tables, added a touch of playfulness to the bar area, creating an inviting and unique focal point. These elements contributed to the overall charm and character of the space, making it truly memorable for patrons.
